It shows the continuing advance of farm mechanisation and features most of the well-know manufacturers. The programme starts with tractors and ploughing and other winter activities, then goes on to a range of spring cultivations. A varied assortment of drills are followed by fertiliser distributors and sprayers. Hay and silage equipment lead on to combines and balers. The programme concludes with sugar-beet harvesters and manure loaders and spreaders. The archive extracts have been chosen by Brian Bell whose full commentary is narrated by Chris Opperman.
